How to Unlock Acolyte in Risk of Rain 2: A Broken Ritual

Prepare and find the Shrine of Descent

Keep a Medkit or Bison Steak ready to hand over. At the revival menu, choose from the items available in your inventory.

While looking for the entrance, you can first complete a Trial: find a hanging gong in a stage, ring it, and finish the Trial objective to collect the N’tormat and a Page. If you have already found a Shrine of Descent, follow its prompt and continue with the route below.

The Shrine of Descent resembles a Shrine of the Mountain with a small orb floating above it. Look around as you progress; it is not tied to one fixed stage.

Enter Soulbound Threshold

1. Activate the Shrine of Descent.
2. Complete the stage’s teleporter event.
3. Enter the Ritual Portal that appears. Do this before using the normal teleporter to change stages.
4. Inside Soulbound Threshold, climb the ramps and interact with the console to start the encounter.
5. Clear the enemy and boss waves, then defeat Anima Harvester. Watch the current objective and remaining time on the HUD.

Revive Acolyte before leaving

Find Acolyte lying beside the exit portal. Interact with her to open Can you revive her?, select an available item, and give it to her. The chosen item is consumed.

Confirm A Broken Ritual and check Acolyte in the survivor-selection screen for your next run. Reaching the exit without a usable item does not complete the revival.

Acolyte: Memento Mori is a separate challenge after the character unlock. It requires playing Acolyte and defeating the target beyond the door in Soulbound Threshold; the base character unlock only requires the revival.
